WASHINGTON, D.C. – Current and former Top 10 players join Grand Slam champions and fan favorites among the wild cards for the men’s and women’s singles draws at the 2024 Mubadala Citi DC Open. World No. 9 Andrey Rublev is the latest player to take a singles wild card and will be the top seed in the men's draw. DMV teenagers and former junior Grand Slam champions Robin Montgomery and Clervie Ngounoue have accepted wild cards into the women's singles draw, with both making their main draw debuts at Rock Creek Park.

They join previously announced wild cards including 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu, former World No. 2 Paula Badosa, former World No. 10 Denis Shapovalov and four-time ATP Tour singles champion Reilly Opelka. More main draw and qualifying wild cards will be announced in the coming days.

Rublev is making his fourth appearance in DC and is a two-time semifinalist at Rock Creek Park (2018, 2022). He stormed into the semifinals without dropping a set in both of those years and was the top seed in 2022.

He opened this year with his seventh ATP Tour title in Hong Kong and then won his second ATP Masters 1000 title this May in Madrid. The 26-year-old has reached 10 Grand Slam quarterfinals and peaked at No. 5 in the ATP Rankings in September 2021. He is also an Olympic gold medalist in mixed doubles after prevailing at 2021 Tokyo with fellow DC competitor Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Montgomery, 19, is an alumnus of the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC) in College Park, Maryland. She currently sits at a career-high WTA Ranking of No. 133. Montgomery concluded her junior career in 2021 by sweeping the US Open girls' singles and doubles titles. This year, she reached the third round in Madrid and took a set off World No. 3 Aryna Sabalenka, recorded her first WTA quarterfinal in ’s-Hertogenbosch and advanced through the qualifying draw at Wimbledon before winning her maiden Grand Slam main draw singles match at the professional level.

Ngounoue, 18, grew up playing on the courts at Rock Creek Park Tennis Center. She made her WTA debut last year in DC and defeated top seed Anna Blinkova in the opening round of qualifying, two weeks after winning the Wimbledon girls' singles title. She has since won her maiden ITF singles title this January in Naples, advanced through qualifying at the WTA Tour event in San Diego and teamed with Montgomery to reach the third round in last year's US Open women's doubles draw.

Raducanu returns to DC for the second time after reaching the quarterfinals in 2022. She made history as an 18-year-old at the 2021 US Open by becoming the first qualifier ever to win a Grand Slam title. She returned to action in January after a nine-month absence due to wrist and ankle injuries. The Brit enjoyed a resurgence during the grass-court season this year by reaching her first semifinal in two years in Nottingham, advancing to the fourth round at Wimbledon and scoring her first-ever Top 10 wins against Jessica Pegula and Maria Sakkari.

Former World No. 2 Badosa will make her debut in DC this year. The Spaniard burst onto the scene in mid-2021, climbing from No. 70 to No. 2 in 12 months after winning three WTA titles that included her maiden 1000-level event in Indian Wells. Badosa overcame ongoing back issues to reach her first quarterfinal of 2024 last month in Bad Homburg and matched her career-best result at Wimbledon by advancing to the fourth round.

Shapovalov returns to DC for his third appearance. He rejoined the ATP Tour in January after missing the second half of last season due to ongoing knee pain. The 25-year-old has reached the third this year at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, in addition to ATP Masters 1000 events in Miami and Madrid. He peaked at No. 10 in the ATP Rankings in 2020 and advanced to his maiden Grand Slam semifinal the following year at Wimbledon.

Opelka is playing in DC for the fifth time. He returned to the ATP Tour last week in Newport after a two-year absence due to hip and wrist injuries, upsetting top seed Adrian Mannarino en route to the semifinals. The 26-year-old has won four ATP titles, all of which came on US soil, and peaked at No. 17 in the ATP Rankings in February 2022.

The men’s and women’s singles qualifying draws will feature recent Wimbledon doubles champion Taylor Townsend, former World No. 9 Roberto Bautista Agut and 2021 Roland Garros quarterfinalist Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. 2019 Roland Garros finalist Amanda Anisimova and Louisa Chirico have accepted qualifying wild cards.

Other notable names in the qualifying draws include last year’s DC quarterfinalist J.J. Wolf and DC native Hailey Baptiste, who defeated former World No. 1 Karolina Pliskova last year at Rock Creek Park.
